criminal careers have more job security
than customs and the port authority

Rumour has it children found in a container
were headed to Thailand and Malaysia
We hear a talk and it spreading fast
in Port of Spain call and text pass
international, meanwhile the upperclass
robbing us blind with a multipass
because we fear the underclass
because the facts is what reach last

Rumour has it freedom people strive to have
is fragile like a WASA water valve
and right through talk leaking
but people don’t know what they speaking
wrong directions to the place they seeking
what they don’t know they always possessed
is not real, instead we feel oppressed
because we don’t have permission to protest
but we never know what to contest

Rumour has it that local media looking for headlines
spent hours looking to fit Leah Lammy into deadlines
but completely overlooked the case of Sally Lobai
and the similarities one day later, get a clue guys
so the criminals thrive, watchdogs with weak eyes
and stuffed noses, so they won’t ever realise
the people dangling bullshit in front them

Rumour has it Trinidad is run by hear say
guilty people speak but don’t dare say
they wrong, they have a right to be
corrupt and pull strings, is the true law of Trini
So in reality, for Max it have nobody actually
to serve for the commission with integrity
I arrogant though I trod modestly

and same time Raz and Navy beefing
Haven’t you seen I’m the bad guy
that you don’t look at when you pass by
because the word is I’m irresponsible
I shoulda wrote this piece two months ago
Rumour has I won’t date a girl in the media
because I’m private but they live in the exterior
Rumour has it either way I’m no longer available
And I don’t perform anymore, I’m not capable
of passion on stage, I just write for the page
Even though the people not reading it
and the author was never feeling it
Rumour has it I laid alot of truth before your eyes
and still people would quicker believe the lies.

I woke up this morning to what I believe has been the result of a culmination of a series of thoughts and rants that I’ve had with a number of people over the past few months with regard to the dilapidation and decay of Trinbagonian culture, heritage and social values which has been heading into a steady, unremitting, macabre and impending state of disrepair. Thus, I think that it is about time that something drastic be done to combat and refute the utter stultification of our culture and do our utmost best to salvage its remnants.

The bombardment of superficial, insubstantial and rudimentary ideals of our local media, governmental and educational institutions, seemingly led by a culturally and socially ignorant and oblivious spineless hegemony of individuals, corporations and backward leaders, on the past three generations of Trinbagonians, have led to the steady decline and dilution of what was once the artistic, cultural and intellectual capital of the West Indies.

We need a monumental and extensive restoration of our arts, culture, education and methods of social development if we hope on ever seeing our country return to the once appreciable stature that it once sustained.

This blog would have a number of contributors and moderators that are going to address current issues as well as derive propositions and ways of rectifying the aforementioned, noting the key players in our society; from the peasants to the monarch with no one spared, taking no sides and making no affiliations with any political organizations but rather forming a group of indigenous nationalists whose sole mission is the development of our nation of Trinidad & Tobago.
